MDH inks MOA with Manila City for Adoption of Barangay


Manila Doctors Hospital and the Office of the Mayor of the City of Manila inked a Memorandum of Agreement on May 23, 2011 for the adoption of Barangay 662 as the 4th beneficiary of MDH’s Community Health Program. Entitled Sama-Sama sa Malusog na Barangay, done by the Hospital with the Metrobank Foundation, this program is a 3 year development health initiative where medical and non-medical interventions are given to the community. The program, established in 2002, utilizes primary healthcare approach with an overall goal to build self-reliant communities in the aspect of health through: accessibility and availability of services, community health awareness and healthy lifestyle advocacies, development and training of Community Health Volunteers, and establishment of health network and referral systems for the community.

Present during the MOA signing were Manila City Mayor Alfredo S. Lim, Manila Doctors Hospital and Metrobank Foundation key officers headed by Mr. Aniceto M. Sobrepeña, President and Atty. Pilar Nenuca P. Almira, Hospital Director as well as representatives of Barangay 662 headed by Ms. Teresita SIkat, Chairman and Mr. Felipe Canaria, Chairman of Barangay 737, the previously adopted barangay of MDH.
