SM Foundation Intensifies Farmers' Training Program

SM Foundation launched three Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Farmers’ Training (KSK-FT) Programs in Camarines Sur, Laguna, and Bulacan.

The KSK-FT is a program that provides farmers with more effective ways of producing high yielding fruits and vegetables. The program is much like backyard farming, only it is enhanced by new technology to produce better results. It is a 12-step program that teaches farmers seed culture and propagation, irrigation and fertilizer application, among other skills. The KSK-FT is a joint undertaking of SM Foundation with the private sector and government agencies.

SM Foundation representatives led by AVP Cristie Angeles, local government officials and local agriculturists and Harbest Agribusiness Corporation representatives were present to lend support at the launch of the training programs.

In related news, a harvest festival was held in Atok, Benguet as 99 from farmers in Atok, Kibungan, and Buguias finished their training. Harvested were crops planted during the training that included lettuce, carrots, cabbage, radish, potato and celery.
