LCF Holds General Assembly, Inducts New Member

Forty-six member organizations gathered during the League of Corporate Foundations’ (LCF) General Assembly held on February 15, 2013 at the Best Western Plus Antel Hotel.

Opening the afternoon’s activity was a learning session, where representatives from selected government offices discussed regulatory updates from their respective agencies: Mr. Rex Paul Ricoter, Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Taxpayer Assistance Services Technical Assistant, discussed the taxability of corporate foundations; Ms. Leonora Tandoc, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Monitoring and Audit Division Head presented updates on filing and documentary requirements for foundations for 2013; the final speaker, Mr. Sigfred Briones, Pag-IBIG Fund Appraisal Department Manager III, discussed available housing assistance through their Institutional Loan and their End-User Financing Programs.

Following the learning session was the induction of the new LCF member, Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc. (TIHG). TIHG implements their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs through Resorts World Manila (RWM), a gaming hub located in Pasay City. Within a year of operations, TIHG has launched its flagship CSR Program, Up With People, which encourages young participants from different sectors to engage in community service, and promotes arts and culture among them through several musical shows. They have also partnered with other organizations such as Philippine Christian Foundation, Gawad Kalinga-Baseco and Bukas Palad to create nation building activities, focusing on the impoverished communities around Metro Manila. TIHG was represented by Ms. Joji Silva, Assistant Director of CSR.

Leading the business matters for the organization, LCF Chairperson, Mr. Sonny Carpio, introduced revisions to the LCF Vision, Mission, Goals and Key Result Areas, for the information of the members. Highlights of activities from 2012 were also presented to the members, as well as upcoming events for the year.
