The two-part activity commenced with the press launch where the 2013 CSR Expo, entitled “Isang Bansa. Isang Bukas. Sabay sa pag-unlad.”, was revealed to the press. LCF invited three distinguished speakers to impart their knowledge on the Expo theme of Inclusive Growth. Hon. Cynthia Villar (Senator-elect of the Republic of the Philippines and President, Villar Foundation) shared her foundation’s advocacy of overcoming poverty by providing people with jobs and livelihood, also emphasizing the need for a united effort, not just individual acts, coming from more organizations to achieve economic growth. Mr. Toshihiro Tanaka (Country Director, United Nations Development Programme) explained that for our country to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth, there must be a “participation, commitment and collective efforts” from all sectors including private/public, media, academe, and both present and future generations. Finally, Mr. Armin Bauer (Principal Economist, Asian Development Bank), stressed that growth never trickles down, does not happen automatically and “has to be made inclusive.”

The General Membership Meeting took place in the afternoon of the same day, where the new member, GT-Metro Foundation, Inc., was introduced and inducted into LCF. GT-Metro Foundation, Inc. was incorporated as the family foundation of Dr. George S.K. Ty, Metrobank Group Chairman, on October 7, 2009.
