LCF Attends the Third Integrity Summit

The League of Corporate Foundations was invited to the 3rd Integrity Summit organized by the Makati Business Club and the European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines. With the theme Building a Nation with Integrity, the summit, held on Sept. 19 at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel, couldn’t have been more appropriately timed, in light of the ongoing pork barrel scam.

Delivering the keynote speech was no less than the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the Honorable Maria Lourdes Sereno, who talked about The Constitution’s Framework for Addressing Misuse of Public Funds, that included The Powers of the Commission on Audit, The Powers of the Ombudsman, and The Role of the Judiciary in holding accountable public servants and private individuals who steal from government coffers.

Other names in the distinguished list of guest speakers included the Chairperson of the Commission on Audit, Ms. Maria Gracia Pulido-Tan; Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales; Senator Franklin Drilon; and Budget Secretary Florencio Abad.

The Summit also featured Best Practices in Integrity – companies that rated Advanced in the Integrity Validation period of June to August 2013 - that included the Shell Companies in the Philippines and Meralco, whose foundations are long-standing members of the League of Corporate Foundations.
