Kicking Off Year of the Horse

Members assembled, all dressed in red, as the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) held its first General Assembly for 2014 on the eve of Chinese New Year, January 30, at the OML hall of the Energy Development Corporation.

The event gathered a total of 110 attendees including distinguished guests from partner associations and 97 participants from 46 LCF member organizations.

Business matters were presented as part of the Membership Meeting, along with a short audio-visual presentation on the League’s activities and achievements over the previous year. LCF also welcomed 5 new member organizations to the group namely MediCard Foundation, Inc., NetSuite (Philippines), Inc., PhilSeven Foundation, Inc., United Bayanihan Foundation, Inc., and WeatherPhilippines Foundation, Inc. The second part of the GA featured a learning session which provided members with the latest information on Typhoon Yolanda efforts. The Philippine Disaster Recovery Foundation (PDRF) President, Mr. Butch Meily, gave an update and the list of priority areas for reconstruction and rehabilitation. The second speaker, Ms. Karen Smith, Private Sector Focal Point of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Human Affairs (UN OCHA), presented organized systems which the private sector and other humanitarian groups may use to be able to work effectively and efficiently during emergencies such as the Yolanda disaster.
