LCF Health Committee Brightens Smiles of School Kids


In celebration of Dental Health Month this February, the LCF Health Committee launched “Sagipin, Unang Permanenteng Ngipin” (SUPN), a dental care project for the students of Pulong Sta. Cruz Elementary School (PSCES) in Laguna. SUPN is as part of the LCF Health Committee’s Project: SPHERES (Spreading Health Education and Reform in Elementary Schools) and will be implemented in PSCES; PSCES a school supported by Toyota Motors Philippines Foundation (TMPFI) which is a member to both the League of Corporate Foundations and the LCF Health Committee.

Last 27 February 2011, the LCF Health Committee signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Education in Laguna, the Philippine Dental Association-Laguna Chapter (PDA-Laguna), and TMPFI to support the implementation of SUPN in PSCES.


The whole-day event also included a dental mission by volunteer dentists from PDA-Laguna who gave classroom lectures on oral health care and proper tooth-brushing. Dr. Apolinario Alzona, DMD, President of the PDA-Laguna Chapter led a tooth-brushing drill for students in the third, fourth, and fifth grades. Pupils received a toothbrush, a tooth paste, and a bib from Ang-Hortaleza Foundation and Tan Yan Kee Foundation.
