LCF Takes Fifteen Years of CSR Advocacy to New Heights

Since 2001, the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) has held annual gatherings on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to celebrate National CSR Week. Themes that have been taken up through the years include forging partnerships for peace and progress, securing the future of the Filipino child, going beyond giving, providing business solutions to social problems, to taking CSR to heart, putting CSR to the testmaking CSR everyone's  businessCSR amidst business unusual and synergizing for change.

This year, the theme “Taking CSR to New Heights” gathered fifteen years of LCF’s CSR advocacy in the country. The two-day LCF CSR Expo was held last JULY 20 to 21, 2011 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.

Generating the participation of over a thousand representatives from the business community, civil society, government, media and academe, the LCF CSR Expo provided a platform whereby CSR practitioners and stakeholders from different industries and sectors learned the importance of doing good business for the benefit of society and the environment.

A distinct feature of the expo was its continuing commitment to a green conferencing format. Last 2010, the LCF CSR Expo achieved being the first large-scale green conference to take place in the country. Its practices, such as limiting waste generation; using recycled materials for its conference paraphernalia; sourcing locally; encouraging paperless transactions; are but few of the conference’s steps to walk its “green” talk.

The conference showcased the best practices and latest trends in strategic Corporate Social Responsibility. It featured plenary and breakout sessions on special topics; a public exhibition with booths and exhibits from corporations, corporate foundations and partners from civil society, academe and government; a free lecture series on 'CSR 101' which catered to students, teachers and the general public.
