Corporate Social Responsibility on the Go: LCF Takes CSR to Sta. Rosa City

The League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) took Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the City of Sta. Rosa with its first-ever “CSR and Business Excellence: CSR on the Go”. 

Held last 24 November at the El Cielito Hotel, CSR on the Go was attended by representatives from Aichi Forging Company, B4 Manufacturing Company, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Don Bosco College, Enchanted Kingdom, ICCP Group Foundation, Laguna Water Company, Manila Water Foundation, Mega Packaging Corporation, PQ Health Shield, RCM Manufacturing, and the University of Perpetual Help. 

The Honorable Arlene Arcillas, Mayor of Sta. Rosa, visited during lunch and gave brief welcoming remarks.

The whole-day lecture-workshop included topics on “Gearing up Your CSR” (Camille Buenaventura); “Engaging Partners & Stakeholders” (Paul Buenconsejo, Ronald Gaspar); “Program Planning, Implementation, Monitoring, and Evaluation” (Max Ventura, Mike Alzona) and “Communicating CSR” (Bong Villamor, Allan Victorino).

Many helpful insights were also shared which will be very useful in planning forthcoming CSR on the Go sessions. These include suggestions on showing sample monitoring indicators; highlighting CSR activities on a per industry basis; and the need to incorporate more workshop-type activities per lecture.

LCF was also commended for coordinating with the LGU and the local chamber of commerce, making the lectures flow seamlessly, and was in fact already requested to hold the next CSR on the Go in Calamba, Laguna.

CSR on the Go heightened my awareness on the core values of CSR.  Our company does not fully implement formal CSR programs, aside from some internal activities for the benefit of employees and little assistance to our neighbourhood. After this activity, I am hopeful that I will be able to share what I have learned so that our company can start prioritizing CSR.”

What the workshop lacked in number, it made up for in terms of audience interaction and impact. Evaluation results show that CSR on the Go exceeded everyone’s expectations, topics offered were relevant and useful to the companies present, and that all speakers were “excellent, highly informative, and can respond to all queries from the audience”.
