TOYOTA MOTOR PHILIPPINES CORPORATION (TMP) held a groundbreaking ceremony last September 6, 2012 for the establishment of a world-class Technical School at the Toyota Special Economic Zone in Santa Rosa, Laguna which will open in 2013.

The Technical School is envisioned to occupy a 10-hectare property producing globally-competent, highly-skilled automotive technicians for the Toyota Family both in the Philippines and abroad.  In the long-term, the Technical School shall eventually become a regional human resources development hub for global Toyota.

TMP Chairman George S.K. Ty expressed his desire to give back to the country fueled by his appreciation for the 24 years of fruitful partnership he has had with Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) and for the many opportunities that he has been endowed with in the Philippines.

The Technical School serves as a concrete manifestation of giving back to the society. In his message during the event, TMP Chairman Ty remarked, “I believe that we need to empower our youth through quality education.  It is my hope that through the graduates of this school, I will be able to give back what this country so willingly provided me.”

For his part, TMC honorary chairman Shoichiro Toyoda praised the Filipino workforce in his special message during the festivities.  Toyoda expressed confidence in the establishment of the school saying, “I am optimistic about the long-term benefits that global Toyota will reap from this School.  I am happy and proud that this school can support and give added value to the Toyota brand.”

TMP president Michinobu Sugata highlighted in his speech during the Groundbreaking Ceremony that, “Toyota’s presence in the country has gained a new dimension.  Our responsibility to help bring progress to the nation goes beyond our business contributions.  Through this school, we are leveraging our technical, financial and human resources in order to catalyze national development.”

The Technical School is a testament to Toyota’s continued contribution to the further development of the Philippine society through education, in addition to the many other philanthropic projects of Toyota.
