K Channel launches Puno ng Buhay Season 2

Knowledge Channel (K Channel) recently launched season 2 of its highly successful educational video series, Puno ng Buhay. The series on forests and environmental protection, management and conservation has four new episodes for learners, four corresponding e-learning games and session guides, and an episode for teachers.

The series, a collaboration with Philippine Tropical Forest Conservation Foundation (PTFCF) with learning themes suited for high school Science lessons for grades 7-9, is hosted by Mico Aytona. Like the previous PNB, the latest episodes provide a deep understanding of the ecosystems and balance in nature and the various factors that affect biodiversity and climate change, and how students can contribute in protecting nature.

During the launch held in Antipolo National High School in Antipolo City, K Channel Director for Transmedia Edric Calma together with PTFCF Communication Officer An Rubenecia ceremonially turned over copies of PNB2 to the Department of Education (DepEd) represented by Antipolo City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Merthel Evardome.

In 2011, K Channel partnered with PTCF in developing Puno ng Buhay Season 1 to help promote increased awareness and education on environment, forest conservation, and sustainable development to enable the young learners to determine future life choices. This year, with such good reception, the educational show branches out to its second season. The show is highly relevant to subjects taken up in both formal and alternative learning systems.

PNB Season 2 will air in K Channel’s Curriculum Block (8:00 am- 4:30 pm) as part of the second semester school year 2014-2015 programming for high school Science. The episodes together with its corresponding e-learning modules and session guides for teachers will be uploaded on K Channel’s learning website, www.kchonline.ph.
