PHINMA Welcomes 33 New Scholars

The PHINMA National Scholarship (PNS) program welcomed 33 new scholars last September 16, 2015 during its Annual Banquet in One Rockwell, Makati City. PNS is the flagship program of the PHINMA Foundation Inc. Anchored in the PHINMA Group’s mission of Making lives better for all Filipinos, the program has been forming young leaders and professionals for the past nine years. Currently, the program has granted almost 200 scholarships and has produced 97 graduates in the fields of education, engineering, and accountancy.

During the Annual Banquet, Mr. Oscar J. Hilado, Chairman of PHINMA Inc., delivered a special message for the tenth batch of PNS Scholars. He emphasized the values of leadership, wisdom, and the virtue of sharing.

Every year, PNS grants the Life Can Be Better Award to a deserving graduate who is recognized for being an exemplary student, an excellent leader, and has embodied the values of integrity, patriotism, competence and professionalism. This year’s awardee was Emiliano M. Tan, a graduate of the UP College of Engineering with a degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and received various academic and non-academic awards as well. In his speech, Emil reminded his co-scholars and the PHINMA employees what it means to make life better for others. He said, “As individuals, we always have that choice to strive for something more. The real essence of having a better life is being able to transcend those choices and affect the lives of other people positively.”
