About CSRI

The Corporate Social Responsibility Institute (CSRI) is a flagship program of the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF).  As the capacity development arm of LCF, it is envisioned to play a crucial role in deepening the skills of the budding number of CSR practitioners.  CSRI taps on the wealth of expertise around the League and its partners to help CSR practitioners get to learn the rigors of managing social development programs that bring significant impact to the society at large while creating value to the business.
The CSRI aims to enhance awareness, understanding and promotion of CSR.  It endeavours to be the repository of experiences, learning, best practices and challenges to sharpen and improve the practice of CSR among the existing practitioners.  CSRI also wishes to design CSR courses for integration into the degree programs and ultimately professionalize the practice of CSR in the Philippines.

OBJECTIVES:

A. To enhance awareness and understanding and promote the practice of CSR;

B. To sharpen and improve the practice of CSR among the existing practitioners;

C. To be the repository of experiences, learnings, best practices, challenges of the practitioners of CSR, initially that of LCF members and eventually of other organizations;

D. To be the one-stop-shop for those who want to learn about the practice of CSR;

E. In partnership with academic institutions, to design CSR courses for integration into their degree programs

F. To professionalize the practice of CSR in the Philippines.

COMPONENTS:

A. CSR Resource Center

    • The wealth of knowledge and experiences that are reposed on the members of the LCF would be of no use if they are not shared. For this reason, the CSRI shall capture and systematically organize this information for easy retrieval, reference and use of anyone interested in CSR and promote the creation of links and network among users.
      The creation and availability of organized information will hopefully facilitate learning and therefore the promotion and widespread practice of corporate social responsibility through a dynamic and multi-sectoral process that brings about continuous innovation.
    • Resource Library
      • The resource library shall contain general information on corporate social responsibility. It shall hold the compilation of all recent literature on new programs and approaches and research results; all books, pamphlets, brochures, and other publications; and documentation of expositions, training and seminars related to CSR. It shall also contain information on all member Foundations of the LCF.
      • The materials may be in printed, audio or video format. They shall initially be made available in a physical library but shall eventually be made available in the website of the CSRI.
    • Research Database
      • The materials in the research database include results of researches done primarily by the Research Committee of the LCF. It shall also contain the results of researches done by the other committees of the LCF.
      • The materials shall deal mainly on case studies and best practices, trends and other ideas on corporate social responsibility.
    • Speakers Bureau
      • is composed of mentors, speakers and consultants and fellows who have passed careful screening by the CSRI, mostly drawn from LCF members.
    • Tool Kits
      • are handy guides for the practice of CSR, e.g., kits on how to set up a foundation, how to set up a volunteerism program, disaster response kit, etc.

B. Training and Development

1.  Curriculum Development

The CSRI shall engage in curriculum development resulting from the integration of CSR in the business curriculum, whether for high school, undergraduate or graduate levels, for degree or non-degree courses.

2. Other Academic Requirements

The CSRI shall meet the demands of the academe in preparing current and would- be business owners for the promotion of the practice of CSR,

C. Materials Production

The writing of books, handbooks, and other publications, in printed, audio and video formats, shall be one of the revenue generating activities of the CSRI. Once done, they shall be made available not only in the resource library but also for sale to interested parties,

D. Learning Programs

1. Roadshows – are venues for sharing of experiences with others. Roadshows increase awareness and provide opportunities to promote the practice of CSR.

2. Sharing Sessions – provide opportunities for practitioners to get together, know each other better, learn from each other and network with each other

3. Mentoring and Consultancy – enhance or improve the practice of CSR. It includes the provision of technical assistance, replies to inquiries and overall capacity building.

4. Short Courses, Training, Seminars and Workshops – are customized learning events that are developed based on the knowledge and experiences of the members Foundations. Hence, they contain not just theory but also tried and tested practical application of CSR.
5. Researches, Surveys, Evaluation – are regularly done to supply updated references for the CSR Resource Center, and as support to curriculum development, and learning programs 
6. Events – are conferences, debates, lecture series and fora on CSR.

7. Fellows Program – is designed for individuals who are keen on being able to impart knowledge and skills to assist interested parties in practicing CSR.

8. Scholarships – are offered to staff of member Foundations to enable them to attend learning events so that they may be able to contribute towards the improvement of their CSR programs.

9. Internships – are for undergraduates of business with strong commitment to the practice of CSR. They assist in the conduct of researches, organization and conduct of conferences, debates, and forums; attend seminars and conferences; and assist in library work and other programs of the CSRI.

 

ACADEMIC REVIEW BOARD

A. Mandate

To provide academic integrity to all the programs, publication, research, training materials that the Institute will produce in pursuit of its academic and professional development activities. It shall be convened once every quarter.

B. COMPOSITION

It shall be composed of representatives (3 to 5) of the leading academic Institutions of the Country.

LCF BOARD

1. Provide guidance in direction setting and strategies formulation and development of a work program based on their varied perspectives and experiences;

2. Help shape the work program of the Institute;

3. Provide advice on how to raise awareness of CSRI in the business community;

4. Facilitate collaboration between CSRI and the various organizations that they need to work with for greater synergy.
